Family Bike Rental in Copenhagen
Family bike rental in Copenhagen is the easiest way to explore the city with children of any age. We offer cargo bikes for younger children and those who are not yet riding on their own, child bikes for children who prefer to cycle alongside the adults, and city bikes and e-bikes for parents.
Copenhagen is built around cycling, with flat terrain and protected bike lanes that make it straightforward to explore on two wheels, even if you have never biked in city traffic before.
Is Copenhagen good for cycling with children?
Renting bikes is the most practical way to get around Copenhagen with children. The bike lanes are separated from car traffic on most routes, distances between sights are short, and you can stop whenever someone needs a snack or a playground break.
Which setup works best depends on how old your children are and whether they want to cycle on their own.

Which bikes work best for families?
Most families go for a cargo bike for the younger children and a city bike or e-bike for each parent. If the children are old enough to cycle on their own, you can rent a bike for everyone in the group.
Cargo bikes
Our cargo bike rental options carry one to two passengers in a front box – most commonly young children, but adults can ride in the box just as well, making it a good option for anyone who prefers not to cycle. Seats, safety belts and weather protection are available if it rains. The steering feels natural within a few minutes, and we walk you through the basics before you head out.
Child bikes
Child bikes are for children who already ride on their own. They come in sizes 18" to 30" so we can match the bike to your child's height when you arrive, and they have three gears and the same safety features as our adult bikes.
City bikes
City bikes are the standard choice for parents who want a light, easy-to-handle ride. They have three gears, handlebar and pedal brakes, and come with front and rear lights and a lock. The upright seating position makes it easy to look around as you ride, and they handle well on both bike lanes and through quieter neighborhoods.
E-bikes
E-bikes are worth considering if one parent is steering a cargo bike and wants a little extra help keeping up with the group, or if you simply want to arrive at each stop feeling fresh rather than worn out. The pedal assist kicks in as you ride and makes the difference on longer stretches. They have a top speed of 25 km/h and a range of 65 to 75 km on a full charge, so battery life is not something you need to think about on a family day out.
Where are the best family routes in Copenhagen?
The Lakes, the harborfront, Christianshavn and Frederiksberg Gardens are all well suited to riding with children — flat, mostly traffic-free and easy to break up with stops along the way.
The Lakes – A loop around Copenhagen's three rectangular lakes, with playgrounds and benches at regular intervals.
The harborfront – A wide path from Nyhavn past the Opera House and on toward the Little Mermaid.
Christianshavn – Quiet canals, small bridges and waterfront lunch spots.
Frederiksberg Gardens – Open green space for picnics and room for children to run around between rides.
These routes connect easily, so you can string several together into a half-day or full-day ride on your own schedule. If you would rather have someone else handle the navigation, a guided tour is the other way to do it.

How do I book a bike rental?
You can book online in advance or drop by the shop when you arrive. Booking ahead is the safer option, especially between May and September when family bookings fill up quickly. You will find us at Holbergsgade 12 in central Copenhagen. Rental periods are flexible – from a few hours up to several days – and longer rentals come with better daily rates.
Families who would rather follow a guide than plan the route themselves often go for our cargo bike tour of Copenhagen or one of our guided bike tours of Copenhagen.
